Subject: WSAS Board Member David Eaton chairs National Academies’ report on the public health consequences of e-cigarettes.

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine published a report entitled Public Health Consequences of E-Cigarettes. WSAS Board Member, Dr. David Eaton, Dean and Vice Provost, UW Graduate School, chaired the Committee on the Review of the Health Effects of Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems.

The consensus report, requested by the Center for Tobacco Products within the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, comprises a literature review that evaluates the evidence about e-cigarettes and health, potential gaps that are a priority for future research, and recommendations to improve the quality of that research.

The New York Times covered the release of the report.
